The Divino sound processor is the newest processor, being launched to “replace” the Compact in stages round the UK this year (2005). It is digital in as much that the audiologist is now able to tune in the tone and gain to suit each individual (whereas with the Classic and Compact the gain had to be adjusted in the workshop). It also benefits from an integral directional microphone. When activated, at the flick of a switch, the microphone picks up sound from ahead of the wearer, filtering out sound from behind. This is beneficial when the wearer is conversing in a noisy area.
