Over the coming years several models were developed as is illustrated in Figure 16. The Mega base HC-380 was later renamed to Cordelle and the HC-360 became later after some modifications the Compact.
The development of later models like the digital version Devino has been made solely by the Entific / Cochlear.

Summary of the commercial history
As pointed out above it takes time, often for good reasons, until a treatment can be commercially available. As the commercial rights in this case were in a company where treating hearing disorders were not in their core business and having a comparatively small commercial potential, the development of the BAHA project might have been delayed some years. The commercial rights to the project have been in the following companies (during the mid 1990 ties Nobelpharma changed name to Nobel Biocare):
Nobel Biotech AB 1985
Nobelpharma AB / Nobel Biocare AB 1985-1999
Entific Medical Systems AB 1999-2005
Cochlear Ltd 2005-
The acquisition of Entific by Cochlear during 2005 seems to be strategically sound as the BAHA is close to Cochlear’s core business and that the company has a tradition to continuously develop their products. The Cochlear vision “Hear now. And always” indicate that it is realistic to have positive expectations for further development of the BAHA system.
